DJ Carey has been released from St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny, after taking ill on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old former Kilkenny hurler was admitted to the hospital’s coronary unit on Tuesday, after collapsing at a garda station.
Mr Carey was reportedly in the public waiting room area of Kilkenny city garda station when the collapse occurred.
A decorated hurler, he won five All-Ireland titles and nine All-Stars during a 16-year career with Kilkenny.
While his mother said the cause of the illness was not yet known, his ex-wife Christine Preston told the Irish Daily Star that an ECG revealed that that there was nothing wrong with his heart.
He called it a day on a 16-year playing career in 2006.
