McAnallens 1.06
Penrith Gaels 0.05
McAnallens sealed a final spot in the NSW Mens Football League with a hard fought victory over Penrith Gaels in Ingleburn last weekend.
McAnallens took the lead in the ninth minute when Aiden Heron hit the net following a long delivery from Declan Quinn.
Penrith responded with two Niall O’Kane free-kicks and a fine point by Conrad Bradley, sending the teams in at half-time at 0-3 each.
The game sprung to life in the second half. McAnallens made good use of the strong breeze and started strongly with points from Quinn and Emmy McKenna. Penrith replied with another fine Bradley point from play and the game was set up for a tense finish.
Penrith struggled to break through a solid McAnallens defence, ably led by Kieran McCartan, with forwards Crilly, Clarke and Collins also finding their range.
Another free score from Penrith’s Niall O’Kane was not enough to plug a four-point deficit. McAnallens march on to meet Clan Na’Gael at Monarch Fields, Ingleburn, on July 1.
The championship begins on July 8.
