20th Annual Great Irish Famine Monument Commemoration

  • The Mint Building Sydney (map)

The annual Commemoration is a moving event which allows the Irish-Australian community to come together to remember the past while looking towards the future.

This year’s event will begin with a Symposium at The Mint Building before attendees visit the Famine Memorial on College St, paying respects to all who suffered and to young orphan women resettled in Australia.

Symposium attendees will not only have the chance to hear from the Vice-Consul General of Ireland Rory Conaty, and historian and genealogist Dr Perry McIntyre, but will also have the opportunity to see colonial artefacts presented by the Sydney Living Museum.

The day will end with guests connecting at P.J. O’Brien’s pub.
