Magners Sydney Irish Festival

The Sydney Irish Festival kicks off on Saturday 10 November with family friendly entertainment throughout the day including traditional Irish dance performances, hurling clinics, amusement rides, player autograph sessions, market stalls, activities for kids of all ages and a Guinness Book of Records attempt to make the world’s biggest Irish stew. Enjoy comedy and live music throughout the day culminating in a major concert commencing at sunset with Damien Dempsey, Mary Black, Lunasa and Saint Sister. 

Day two on Sunday 11 November will commence with the Big Irish Brunch, more family friendly activities and live music in the build up to the pre-game welcome parade of the teams into the stadium, before Galway and Kilkenny battle it out. Keep updated via the website.

65th Tesselaar Tulip Festival - Irish Weekend, Melbourne

Enjoy an adventure in a wonderland of spring flowers at the 2018 Tesselaar Tulip Festival held in Melbourne’s magical Dandenong Ranges from September 15 – October 14, 2018. Visitors will be grinning like Cheshire cats whilst they wander through the brilliant display of five acres of tulips. There is fun for all ages, including live entertainment, children’s activities, delicious local and international food and market stalls daily, all set to the stunning backdrop of a rainbow of 900,000 tulips in flower.

Come for the craic and enjoy all day entertainment during Irish weekend (5 – 7 October). There will be Irish pipers and dancers, Celtic arts, Irish coffee and beers and a few loveable Leprechauns!

22nd Boorowa Irish Woolfest 2018

Everyone’s heard of the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona but much closer to home, in Boorowa, New South Wales you can enjoy the spectacle of the “Running of the Sheep”. Beautiful woolly Merino sheep are shepherded down the road by Farmer Ashley on his four wheel motorbike and his trusty Kelpies who leap on and off the motorbikes and on and off the sheep’s back.

A magical free country festival with a myriad of activities including wool and Irish, children’s fun, and a fine Boutique Market displaying food, wine and quality crafts.

The Running of the Sheep starts at 12noon on Sunday.

National Celtic Festival, Portarlington

This winter festival is regarded as Australia’s premier Celtic Festival and attracts over 15,000 people to the region over the three day long weekend event each June.

The Festival uses a range of venues within the town, including community halls and spaces, the hotel, restaurants, cafes and churches. Marquees are also set up on the foreshore to provide additional venues; these include the Village Stage, Celtic Club, Wine Bar, and Celtic Markets. 

The National Celtic Festival program offers a broad and diverse range of arts experiences that capture the Celtic culture in its many interpretations within the Australian setting.

The festival caters for all age groups and for a diversity of cultural and family groups. The festival has become an annual event for families and friends to gather, offering time to relax and experience the depth of Celtic culture through the festival’s cultural diverse arts program.

Koroit Irish Festival

A three day community celebration of the historical Irish village of Koroit and its Celtic roots. Damien Leith will open the Festival on Friday and the weekend includes and Irish dance spectacular, live music on five indoor and outdoor stages, Australian Danny Boy Championship, spud picking and peeling championships, street procession, talent competition, kids area, market stalls, food court and bar, an Irish cook-off and more.

Tullamore Irish Festival, NSW

The annual Tullamore Irish Music Festival celebrates the entire range of all things Irish – that is, the Irish, the near-Irish, the stereotypically Irish and the not-really Irish.
 Celebrating the best of 2 great cultures. John Williamson will flying the Australian flag and flying the Irish flag is the Barley Shakes, Maria Ford and Blackwater Irish Band.

As well as great music the festival also Irish Food, Irish dancing and a shearing demonstration. The festival runs from Good Friday evening and all day easter Saturday. Tickets are $60 for the entire weekend and kids under 18 are free. Stay the weekend and camp under the amazing stars and get into the Irish Spirit.
