Over three decades, the Meath-born father-of-three has borne witness to massive changes in the Australian Irish dynamic, the diaspora and the media itself. He has built a reputation as a dynamic editor, publisher and entrepreneur.
Billy is also a vocal advocate for the Irish abroad and believes Ireland needs to rethink its relationship with the diaspora. He wants to explore new ways to connect emigrants around Australia and the world through compelling content.

She ranks in The Irish Times ‘Most-Read’ and has won or been shortlisted for poetry awards in Australia, the USA, the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Canada.

We are excited to host Sydney St Patrick's Day in the Rocks on Sunday 17th March 2019. Come along and celebrate everything Irish as we transform the Rocks into an Irish village for the day. The parade will commence at First Fleet Park and end at Dawes Point Reserve where the festival will be held. There’ll be a children’s activity area, Australian Citizenship Ceremony, live music, storytelling, food and craft stalls. All welcome to attend.
All PJ Gallagher’s pubs host Irish festivities stretching over St Patrick’s day weekend. This celebration includes food and drink specials including a $16 all day Irish breakfast with bacon, eggs and black pudding. Live music and dancing. Pints of Guinness or Kilkenny $10.

Sharon’s journey with her accordion and love for music has led her to become one of the world’s most highly acclaimed traditional musicians, and her personality has led her to be one of Ireland’s most well-liked and popular national treasures.
On Sunday the 3rd of March the Friends of Vinegar Hill and Blacktown City Council will hold their annual commemoration of the March 1804 uprising and breakout by mostly Irish convicts from the Castle Hill government farm. That breakout led to a clash with the Colonial Militia resulting in about twenty convicts being killed with nine others being hanged in following days. The clash came to be called the Battle of Vinegar Hill, after the 1798 battle in Ireland.
it will last about an hour, will include a wreath laying - a flag raising - an address by dignitary (to be decided). This annual event is organised by Blacktown City Council and the Friends of Vinegar, for more information

Playing at the Metro
After selling out their Sydney St Patricks Day pop up show in under 48 hours, and performing sold out shows across the country in 2017, one of Ireland’s biggest bands today return to Australia in November. The Coronas are currently reaching new heights across the world performing huge stadium shows in their native Ireland, supporting one of Norway’s hottest acts Dagny on her Norwegian tour, playing some of the biggest festivals on the planet, and having four double platinum albums and numerous top 10 singles under their belt.
The Limerick band has seen massive success over the past year, including the release of their new EP Gold & Rust featuring the lead, chart topping single Lions Share. This acoustic folk rock band has successfully built a dedicated legion of fans across the globe thanks to their captivating and unforgettable live sets. Playing gigs in South Africa, Australia, United States, Canada, Dubai, France, London and of course Ireland, they have had the opportunities to play on stage with the likes of Gavin James, Josh Ritter, Walking On Cars, The Pogues and The Trews.
Their unique arrangement of instruments includes the bodhrán, djembe, rhythmic guitar and banjo sets them apart as a truly original offering of Irish music.
The Sydney Irish Festival kicks off on Saturday 10 November with family friendly entertainment throughout the day including traditional Irish dance performances, hurling clinics, amusement rides, player autograph sessions, market stalls, activities for kids of all ages and a Guinness Book of Records attempt to make the world’s biggest Irish stew. Enjoy comedy and live music throughout the day culminating in a major concert commencing at sunset with Damien Dempsey, Mary Black, Lunasa and Saint Sister.
